Projects - Health - UEA Nursing
The School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of East Anglia is working
with us. Two lecturers visited Dedza in 2007 to carry out an assessment and establish
links with local organisations in Dedza and a nursing college in another part of the
country and also at a national level.
Nurses meeting
Midwife
In 2008 a group of five final year student nurses visited Dedza for
two weeks as a elective part of their course. They spent some time carrying
out observations in the District Hospital and visited rural clinics and other
facilities in the District.
The School of Nursing and Midwifery is exploring the development of a Masters
degree course for lecturers in nursing training colleges in the whole of Malawi.
During the lecturers’ visit, initial discussions were held with the Ministry of Health
and the World Health Organisation in Malawi. A proposal has been drawn up and sent to
the Ministry.
