How you can help

This part of the website offers suggestions on ways in which you may be able to help us. If you can offer any assistance, please get in touch through the contacts.

Money

Donations to the bursaries fund are always welcome. Details are given on the School Bursaries page in the Projects section of the website.

Funds are needed for projects in Dedza, such as the Guardians' Shelter. The activities of the Partnership also require finance. For example, the cost of sending out a shipping container is £6000.

Donations can be made -
  • by cheque made out to Norwich-Dedza Partnership, sent to Norwich-Dedza Partnership, c/o Norwich City Council, City Hall, Norwich, NR2 1NH.
  • or by payment into our account:
    Norwich-Dedza Partnership
    Account Number : 65184107
    Bank : Co-operative Bank
    Sort Code : 08 92 99

If you are a UK taxpayer we can claim back 28p from the Inland Revenue for every £1 you give at no cost to you. Please complete and return the form to enable this.

    Materials

Each year, we hope to send out a shipping container with useful materials to Dedza. This would include such things as

    • computer equipment for schools, public offices (Dedza District Assembly, police, hospital, etc) and community organisations.
    • books and materials for primary and secondary schools. A list of materials is given on the Schools Equipment page of the website.
    • medical equipment for the hospital
    • woodwork handtools, sewing and knitting machines, other tools and equipment to enable people to set up small businesses. Only the main towns have an electrical supply, so hand operated equipment is needed in the villages.

We plan to send the next contained in September 2007, so it would be best for us to receive materials from July onwards. However, we would be willing to take and store a limited amount of materials at any time of year.

    Time

From time to time, we need assistance with work such as sorting books, cleaning and packing equipment, helping to organise and run fundraising events. If you would like to do any of this type of work, let us know your name and phone number. We will put you on our database to call when needed.

    Expertise

You may have some knowledge and experience that would be useful to the projects and activities promoted by the Partnership. This could be in the fields of computing, education, health, horticulture/agriculture, business/entrepreneurship, tourism, etc.

    Contacts

You may know of individuals (eg a relative or friend) or organisations (eg employer, business contact or funding organisation) that can help us. If so, please pass on our details to them or contact us with the information.

    Ideas

We won't have thought of everything. You may have ideas about how people and organisations in and around Norwich can help Dedza or about how Dedza can provide useful information and assistance to institutions in Norwich. Please let us have your ideas.
